Holy crap! Been out every night this week for some kind of event or show or party...I have a bag that is shaped like a meat cleaver that I love and have been carrying around for a month now. The only problem with this is tha my little camera doesn't fit in it. Which means crappy iPhone pics and videos for this here blog. Tonight I am hitting La Plaza to see a play that is part of the Loisaida festival then going to see my best friend spin fire at an art event party in Brooklyn so I shall switch bags so i can take better pics. THE THINGS I DO FOR YOU PEOPLE!
I hung out on east 9th between C and D last night for a bit at the new Loisaida Inc building and community center and took a few pics of banners being painted by my friends and some of the people getting ready for the Loisaida festival on Sunday which is going to be huge. It's a cool space with really nice people running it and I'm so happy it is there. These people really remember the old neighborhood and the space is dedicated to that.
I also went by the final night of East Village Radio on 1st ave and heard them spin the final song in the pouring rain with about 25 other people. It was You Can'T Put Your Arms Around A Memory by Johnny Thunders and it was followed by a depressing silence as one more beloved thing bites the dust in the hood. Still, it was nice to be with people who care about the EV. It made NY1 today I saw when I turned on my TV set.
So here are some blurry pics and I will have better stuff up later this week. There are tons of things happening in the LES and East Village this week and since I leave in July I will try to hit as many of them as I can! Pics are out of order cause I gotta get going...going..going...

Pics from LA and SF!

Every single time I come on here to post I realize how lazy I am being about posting on here dammit!
BUT I am being very UNLAZY in many ways! I had a great time on the west coast though it was only 8 days which is pretty short for me when I travel. Met up with Crumb and met a lot of nice 78 collectors plus saw some friends and got to lay out in 95 degree weather on Venice Beach which was hilarious. So weird seeing everyone just smoking weed everywhere without worrying about it.
Since i got back I am taking some good advice from Robert and others and am going forth with some major productivity on my part. I have a great band, an amazing hubby who encourages me constantly and have enough connections that if I really work on writing some autobiographical stuff in book form I have a decent chance of getting it read by some big publishing houses...not to mention having anything I write being read by other authors who will help me with suggestions and editing. Sales from music are decent and I have all the time in the world to get better on guitar, write, learn new songs for the next album, work out like crazy, go to shows and see all my friends and socialize all night if I choose to. So I must take advantage of this and just go go go for it all. Including posting on this damn site twice a week!
I wake up. Return all texts and emails then take my laptop to the stoop next door by 1pm and write for two full hours every day and man, does it feel good. Writing and learning an instrument are solitary things to be doing and being outside just that little bit keeps me from going nuts. I leave for Europe the first week of July and we will be doing gigs, recording and doing a lot of podcasts with Crumb one of which we are releasing as a double album with Crumb artwork. Between the two of us, John and I have about 6 projects going on.
AnyWEED, here are some pics from LA and SF all mixed up cause that's how I do...Seeing Meredith Axelrod and Craig Ventresco play live  when we were out there was just incredible. We also got to hang out with director Terry Zwigoff and his wife Missy whom we jammed with amongst other fun things...

Back in NYC! Csquat shows and farewell to the Speakeasy...sniff...

I have some pics of my adventures from the last two weeks...from our shows and from SF and LA trip which was AWESOME where we went to check out 78's and hang out somewhere warmer...I will post some of that stuff next time. So much going on since I got back and I missed some of it...Mayday marches, Pot's just too much shit happening every day. But I did hit two shows that were at Morus Museum/Csquat last night then afterwards we all headed to Vito's Speakeasy next door to dance until the sun was up practically. Vito is the best...always free drinks for the squatters..he always refused to charge anyone who came by from Csquat...always had some treats for the dogs when people would sit on the stoop in the spring. Always the nicest guy. I hadn't been there in over a year but last night was such a was packed with people dancing to salsa, pop and hip-hop. They ran out of beer and had to keep running out to get more. So sad to see it go. Another neighborhood staple bites the dust. And this whole Mars Bar coming back is just bullshit. It will be like the new Bowery Poetry Club. Red rope, menu with fancy foods and exotic overpriced cocktails with the saved bar and juke box as museum pieces. Better if it does not come back with that name. It's just a tease and depressing as hell.
Anyway, here are some pics from the show at Csquat along with some videos including a sort of salsa band and more..and one video from the crazy dancing going on at Speakeasy. I am pretty damn tired and hungover so they all kinda suck but well, TOO LATE YOU ARE ALREADY READING THIS CONSTANT READERS!
