NYC Dance Parade was rain or shine mostly rain with some shine and fun as fuck!

The annual Dance parade was this past weekend and though it rained it was still the most fun event of the year. I actually woke up early to see the floats for once but it was pouring out....so I watched a movie with John who is off work for weeks now YAY! and by the time I got outside it was NOT raining and there they all were! Smaller than usual of course but two stages were going strong with the groups performing and the free dance space with the pirate ship and DJ were going full force. I took a ton of pics and videos as usual and danced for hours with all kinds of crazy people. When I dropped out of a conga line the Dance Police gave me a ticket for not dancing...sob..which was actually a pass to get in to Nublu cheap that night but I was actually too tired to even try. So happy it was going on still and now the weather is great every day. We leave for France so soon I can't believe it but still plenty of time to do all kinds of fun weird NYC stuff now that it is finally spring. There's so much stuff this month I can't even post it all...I am just too lazy/busy doing other stuff so I will just post the most fun goings on.

Garden procession! Costumes! Kids! Body Paint!

Last week was the sort of rainy but fun garden procession which marched from garden to garden and school to school spreading love, glitter and earth appreciation. I caught up with it at the 6th and B garden and look some pics and a video then had to run but it was pretty cool! I had seen the pirate ships at Morus Museum and C squat but didn't realize what they were being built for.
So many events this month...always love my birthday month cause of all the fun and crazy shit but the rain is a bummer! WEATHER MACHINE OWNED BY TRUMP TRYING TO RUIN MY GOOD TIME! Big Waggytail Dog Rescue at the Slipper Room tomorrow with Tammy Faye Starlight and Janeane Garofalo performing so that should be a fun time...and Clemente Soto art exhibits is going on that night AND Friday night too! Dance Parade Saturday but it could get rained out this year...or maybe we just dance in the acid rain.

Cannabis rally in Union Square on Cinco de Mayo!

Today was so fun I just had to blog at 2am about it...well that and I never have time to post anymore somehow...writing other stuff is time consuming but more productive...
Today was the annual pot parade and it ended at Union Square as usual with a show and bands and speakers. It really felt different this year what with weed being that much closer to legalization now. It was like some unspoken thing that everyone there was smoking weed blatantly in public though many cops were there watching. Then at 4:59 exactly the permit was up and everyone got paranoid and ran off haha! True story! I had a contact high with all that insane smoke around and took a video of the countdown to 4:20pm and some pics.
It really will be fun when pot is legal. Everyone was so happy and there were no fights or bad shit like in Tompkins where everyone is either nodding out or smoking crack. Everyone was hugging and sharing joints and just...this shit needs to be legal already. Hell, if NJ is doing it why not NYC? If we don't do it we can't make fun of NJ anymore!
AnyGanja, here ya go friends...sorry I am so sporadic but since it got warm and May is my favorite month with my birthday in it and all I have barely even been online...little bits here and there BUT John just got me a new laptop for part of my bday gifts! My old one bit the dust months ago but it barely effected me. Too much other stuff going on I guess...crazy winter and now great spring though it started 3 days ago!

Rent Guidelines Meeting madness at Cooper Union tonight.

The preliminary rent guidelines meeting was tonight at Cooper so I ran over to catch it in the middle of my beautiful date day with John to catch the madness of it all and see how much they are going to fuck us over this year. It started out well until they voted on rent stabilized apartments going on 4-7% I think and most on the board voted yes on this. People are fed up with this joke of a voting process and for a prelim meeting this got pretty intense.
Pics and Videos below...the next vote is on June 26th. Sigh...

The Abracadabra Field Trip bus and Free the Nipple Fashion Show

Some Saturdays the Abracadabra Field Trip musical hippie bus does the rounds from Union Square to Washington Square then Tompkins Square Park. They do old songs and some new ones. Some Led Zeppelin even and everyone dances and it's hilarious. This weekend in the warm weather they showed up and also had a feminist free the nipple fashion show too! I took pics and videos and I have to say the men in Tompkins seemed to be in very good moods with all the boobs out but no one was creepy really. It was really something and I hope they will be back soon when it's warm again. IF IT IS EVER WARM AGAIN DAMMIT!
So here is the shenanigans for ya...I plan to blog at least once or even twice a week now..since this is my last year of blogging! Kinda excited to end it and move on...I planned to last year but just kept it going cause a lot was going on to write about. But now with writing autobiographical short stories and a YA novel I just have to concentrate on real writing. All I do lately is read books on how to better my stuff...Stephen King's On Writing is really good I realized. And I have about 6 others. Exciting! I also through in a couple of folks selling art by my block on 1st ave who were pretty funny.
Anyboob, here is the fun from the warm weekend!

Hanging with Robert Crumb before and during our gig at the BK Folk fest!

I think I announced in March this will be my last year of blogging. I started in 2008 or so and I went from 3 posts a week to about 2 a month cause I'm busy and writing a book and it's too much to maintain. I will announce it again and maybe get a nice send off from grieve or whoever..but I need to work on my career and music and other stuff. It has been fun though!
This week Crumb came in on the 4th in the afternoon and basically listened to 78s with John over at our place for 3 nights straight. It was fun and we had a blast playing the Brooklyn Folk Fest Sunday headlining the end of the day program. It is on their fb page cause they live streamed the whole show so John's mom got to see us play for the first time live(kinda) and everyone was really into it. Whole place was getting down. Robert was a little mobbed with fans so we left early but it was great.
I have some pics and video to post up..and I can link the livestream to the show too. We sound okay considering John is a little sick and I lost my voice and Robert was tired. Saw so many great acts there also got interviewed for a documentary about the Fest too. Fun!

Here is the link to most of our set...some of the best songs were cut off but what can ya do. You have to have a FB account to view it though!

My goddess I am lazy! But cool and fun and funny and wonderful.

I think this has to be my last year of blogging. One decade and I'm just too busy! Also I don't have a huge readership really like an evgrieve or vanishing ny.  I basically had fun since 2009 doing this and now I need to promote my band and career and write my book. 50 pages in! I post on Fb and on twitter and this is just a bit much to keep up with lately. I do have hundreds of readers which is amazing but I am on here less and less. I will keep all posts up of course like the viral one with Crumb and all the rest. So enjoy this last year and I will try to post more often!
Here is some stuff going on I will put up...random and funny and just stuff. We have a big gig with Crumb on the 8th and the next few weeks are full of funny crazy stuff and celeb stuff and I will try to post that. I hate promoting so much all I want to do is talk about Human Centipede really all day. And get the song Take it Easy by the Eagles out of my head as it's been stuck in there for a week now. 7 WOMEN ON MY MIND OH YEAH. Sorry if I double post some of these pics I am too lazy to go back and check what I posted this past month. We got the BK folk fest flyer....we play Sunday at 5:45pm...should be a blast! Robert comes in on the 4th so after I get my hair done nice for the show and do some other stuff we will hang out and jam maybe that night. Can't wait. I saw my first and second cousins and we all had fun at Ray's which they wanted to check out.
Ass Studios was taken at Rev Jen's art show at the MF gallery weeks ago...I just forgot to post the pic. Mosaic Man has some cool new stuff going on at St Marks..and I think that tv channel may want to rethink their shortening of Teen Titans. Sort of giving off the wrong message.
Ray's now deep fries everything! Any candy bar he will deep fry it! Go on in and ask. Then there was a reunion of sorts this past weekend for Kenny Kendra's memorial shows and Troll who I have not seen in like 20 years showed up at C and we got to hang out. Shayne knows him from LA too from long long ago. And I had to get my scarf in as the attention this gets is INSANE. More than any crazy outfit I wear all summer. Cops love it. Crackheads love it. Cops follow me to ask me where I got it. It matches my guitar strap! Alright gotta go practice now while John works the Jesus Christ Superstar live set up!

Fire jumping at La Plaza!

Last night was the annual Persian fire jumping for spring in La Plaza and it was the biggest one yet I think! Even PIX11 was there filming and it was on the 10pm news! I saw myself for a second and Shayne was in almost every shot somehow...it was cold and windy but it was the most crowded I have ever seen it. Fire department showed up again and read the permit, looked confused and left. This is also a ritual that happens every year! That last video is me taping myself when I jumped over the fire pits and it was pretty weak I have to admit. The little kids jumped way higher than I did.
Here are some pics and videos from the night and I will see if I can link the channel 11 news too.

God Friended Me on Avenue C but closed A&C. Sniff.

They are filming the movie God Friended Me around Avenue C and D for the next few days and how bizarre it was to see a fake subway station in front of La Plaza, fake bus stops and that A&C kitchen was turned into a bodega! Tomorrow is the spring fire jumping ritual in La Plaza which I love so I hope the rain holds off and both things are happening at once.
Here are some pics of it PLUS my favorite nut The Howler showed up as usual and hung out at C squat for a while howling while they were trying to do takes before the sun wet down. Heh.
I got a video of that fun. It is still cold as shit but spring is really in the air and I can't wait till April when I have all kinds of fun stuff going on like our big show with Crumb and more!

Two days in Fort Lauderdale! Oh can you STAND this much excitement?

Had to come down to Broward County to see my eye doc here and was going to stay 4-5 days but with the storm coming Wednesday early I just booked a flight back to NYC tomorrow afternoon! Sorta can't wait to be back already...got a clean bill of health and my new lenses come tomorrow early and then I have nada to do here. I don't drive and don't have a car so I have a 1-2 mile radius to hang out in and today I saw about everything I wanted to see and OH THE EXCITEMENT OF THESE THINGS! Basically I went to a thrift store, hung out by some railroad tracks and fed some lizards by the pool. Hotel is nice with healthy food and a gym I used for an hour today but I need to beat this storm and get back to take Delgado's blood and make sure he is okay. John is sick too and I want to be home and taking care of him.
So here is my trip...some freaking lizards that loved me and some train tracks. Yeehaw. I have some pics I took in NYC before I left that I forgot to post...I started this blog in 2008 and I think 2018 is my last year. I just really want to promote my music and band and do other stuff. With twitter and Instagram I am blogging less and less. I like tweeting funny shit to evgrieve and that's good enough for me. I will keep the blog up though of course....ten years of history here! May repost some stuff I have archived too... But I hope some more gals decide to do this...I was encouraged to blog about the hood as I do so much and know everyone and go out a lot but it may be time for bigger and better after a decade of my musings!
I have quite the Facebook fan club now too and if I actually do write a novel that sees the light of day I will make a page for myself on there...the Crumb fans will love it cause I am way more accessible than John is with that stuff!
